Pairing a Cinnamon Cockatiel with Other Mutation

Postby Anam ali » Fri Dec 07, 2012 1:58 pm

Is it possible to pair my male cinnamon cockatiel with a female cockatiel (from a different mutation)? My cockatiel's age is around 1.5-2 years, I'd like to know what age is the best of a female cockatiel that would go along with my male cockatiel?

You can pair any cockteil mutation with any other mutation of cockteils. Female of 1 year age is adult and is ready to be paired up with any other adult male.

there are some do nots in cockatiel pairing according to the world champion breeders. They do not recommend breeding Cinnamons to Silvers and Lutinos as they give a fawnish look to these two mutations. This is why we normally see a little fawn wash on the Lutino birds .

What mutation would you suggest besides cinnamon? I was planning to buy a Lutino.

I would suggest for grey pearl, or normal hen. If the male has a white or yellow patch at the back of its head then you can use a pied female to get pied as well.
